Craft Requirements

Musician Volunteers

All Musical Team Members Must be Able to…

• Read Chord Charts 

• Properly tune their instrument

• Have a basic understanding of music theory 

• Can play in time to a click track/metronome

• Can play in different time signatures (3/4, 4/4, 6/8) in a variety of patterns

• Ability to play dynamically (soft, medium, loud)

• Ability to play/sing on pitch

• Ability to follow the direction of the leader’s interpretation of the song through improvisation

• Be willing not to play if a song requires it, or if asked by the team leader

• Be willing to lead a song if asked/needed

• Ability to sing/play in front of other people

Stringed Instrument Players Must…

• Know name of strings

• Have a basic understanding of fret-board

• Know and be able to play all major and minor chords

• Properly utilize capo (GUITAR ONLY)

Vocalist Must…

• Have the ability to hear and/or be taught parts (sing harmony & melody)

• The ability to blend with and adapt their vocal style to a team of vocalists

• Ability to confidently sing into a microphone in front of others

• Proper use of vibrato in a contemporary worship context

• When asked, be willing to pray and/or speak in front of the congregation

Drums/Percussion Must ...

• Properly utilize various types of sticks

• Be able to play with control

• Follow team leader’s lead during songs (continue, speed up, etc.)
